I’m reaching out to see if anyone is willing to share the requirements you include in your privileges for Leadless Pacemakers. I’m working on gathering information to present to my Credentials Chair but haven’t had much luck finding anything through CRC privileging resources or the white pages.

Do you complete a claims Hx for initial applicants?

Hi!

Currently we are obtaining claims Hx's for initial and reappointments although we add the provider to the NPDB as a continuous query on intial appt. I don't see any benefit in completing a claims hx if we are adding the provider to the NPDB.

When I question why we are doing this the response I get is "it's always been this way". So, I wanted to reach out to see if others find benefit in completing a claims hx and if so, please explain the benefit.

Provider on staff in a category of "Community"

Question from Pennsylvania:

Currently we have a staff category of "Community" these providers do not hold privileges; they are just associated with the hospital I believe for insurance purposes. Currently we are monitoring their COI's, DEA's etc. to ensure they are not expired. However, my question is; since they're not being granted privileges, are we required to make sure all of their information is up to date? We will absolutely make sure their license is current and do the sanction checks, but it seems a bit much to monitor all of their expirables.

What is your process when a community practitioner (not credentialed at your facility) submits orders for diagnostic tests - initially, we're supposed to verify license & OIG/Medicare sanctions, then we add their demographics to our database. Does anyone submit an NPDB query? Do you verify license/OIG every time an order is received?

I've been asked a question and need your assistance in answering.

Nurse Practitioner that runs a clinic. One physician (contracted) wants to supervise the privileges/clinic and a separate physician (employed) for billing purposes.

I'm concerned by the question. This would be 2 physicians, 2 different NPI and the physicians are not in the same practice.

We're in the process of reviewing our Allied Health Professionals - APRN / PA privileges. Currently we have a "core" for Medicine and "core" for Surgery. Under each umbrella, there are certain specialty breakout sections with additional requirements (education / training / certification) for specialties such as Critical Care, Neonatology, Orthopedics, etc. I'm looking for other Hospitals who have APRNs and PAs who would be willing to share their privileges.
